The Village of Westmont is seeking a motivated and willing Senior Maintenance Worker to join our fantastic team in the Underground division of our Public Works Department.
This position is a leader in ensuring the below ground infrastructure is maintained and in proper working order.

While every day brings something different, here’s a snapshot of the kind of work this position is regularly involved in:- Operates varied equipment engaged in several programs, such as water main repairs, repair of fire hydrants and valves, storm sewer repairs, storm sewer maintenance
- Locating of underground utilities for J.U.L.I.E. and assists with updating location and attributes of the Village’s underground utilities;
- Acts as lead worker or crew chief in directing workers on a specific project.

People who tend to do well in this position often have experience that includes things like:- Three to five (3-5) years of experience working for a municipality or similar agency and/or construction experience with a private contractor, preferably with water distribution or storm sewer systems , or experience in the operation of related equipment.
- Requires possession of a valid Illinois CDL Class “B” vehicle operator’s license with air brake and tanker endorsement.
- Experience with water systems and possession of an IEPA Class D or C Water Operator license, or Operator in Training designation and ability to obtain an IEPA Class D or C Water Operator license within three (3) months.
- Have led and directed the work of crews.
- Requires ability and willingness to respond to emergency calls on a 24 hour, 7 day basis and within a 30-45 minute time period.
Ability to accept rotating, after hours standby assignments. - Experience with the operation of heavy equipment such as backhoes and vactors.
- Customer service with internal and external customers to get issues solved in a timely and professional manner.
- Working with a safety-focused mindset.
- Reliable attendance is essential for success.

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.
The full pay range is $32.19/hr – $49.29/hr, but we expect the starting wage to be in the neighborhood of $32.19/hr – $42.25/hr (DOQ).
The Village of Westmont has a residency requirement to live in DuPage County or a contiguous county to DuPage within 12 months of date of hire.
