Library Para-Educator

The Library Para-Educator supports the Library Media Specialist in facilitating an organized, welcoming, and engaging library environment that promotes student learning, literacy, and access to resources. Duties include managing and maintaining the Destiny library management system, preparing new library materials, labeling, stamping, and processing library materials, searching and editing catalog records, setting up displays, repairing books, assisting with special programs, maintaining statistical and inventory records, repairing damaged materials, assisting with digital learning, creating resource lists, assisting students with locating resources, overseeing scheduling of classes, handling booking and distribution of A/V equipment, managing media supplies, preparing purchase orders, operating video, multimedia, and audio equipment, assigning and updating passwords, assisting students in planning the use of media tools, and performing clerical duties.

Qualifications:

High school diploma; and two years of college level courses in library science or computer science; and/or two years of work experience in a library setting and/or providing technical support; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior successful experience working in a school or library setting strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to lift and carry light equipment (25-50 lbs.) such as computers, portable sound systems, book carts, etc. as well as pushing carts, stocking and organizing books, and moving furniture to accommodate flexible seating.

Terms:

As established in the contract between the Weston Board of Education and Local  of Council 4 AFSCME.
