Summary

The Department of Education at Regis College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member beginning in the fall 2026 semester. The selected faculty member will teach Social Studies Methods to our education students seeking licensures such as Early Childhood, Elementary, and Humanities Teachers in Massachusetts. This course will focus on the best teaching practices to motivate students to teach social studies in diverse classrooms.

Throughout the course, students will deepen their understanding of the physical and political geography of the world. Students will complete a minimum of 10 pre‑practicum hours, as well, though no field supervision is required for this course.

A minimum of 5+ years of successful teaching experience and a master’s degree are required. Additionally, qualified faculty should hold a teaching license in the content area (i.e., History, Humanities) and/or in Elementary Education, Moderate Disabilities, or Severe Disabilities with significant coursework in the social sciences. All course offerings are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment. Please note that beyond the Fall 2026 semester, this course will be offered in person on the Weston campus.

Functions
  • Teach ED325, Social Studies Methods, asynchronously to undergraduate students
  • Keep course curriculum current and relevant to today’s classroom curriculum
  • Provide timely feedback to students and hold office hours at least 2 hours/week (this can be done via Zoom)
  • Please note that Regis College adjunct instructors are not required to attend school or department meetings (though they are welcome to do so), conduct academic advising, or serve on standing committees

Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education public‑school educator in the PK‑12 MA public school system
  • Knowledge of curriculum development based on Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education frameworks requirements
  • Hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education valid licensure in a minimum of one of the following areas:
    • Early Childhood (PK‑2) and/or Elementary (1‑6)
    • Moderate Disabilities (PK‑8 and/or 5‑12)
    • History (5‑8 or 8‑12)
  • An earned master’s degree in a discipline related to education with a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Preferably has teaching experience in higher education and/or adult education
  • Ability to uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform all duties necessary for classroom instruction
Salary
  • $3,481.82 per 3 contact hour course for faculty with a Master’s Degree
  • $3,700.62 per 3 contact hour course for faculty with a Doctoral Degree
