Art Teacher - 0.5 FTE
Location: Weston High School
Job Goal: To provide dynamic and engaging art instruction in a supportive and inclusive environment in order to foster creativity and a love of the arts.
Qualifications Required:
- Holds or is eligible for the Connecticut certification as an Art Teacher (PreK-12)
- Possesses a strong background in various art forms; strong skills in media arts preferred
- Possesses a degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Experience in working effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community groups
- Develops and implements curriculum that is aligned with CT and National Core Arts Standards and incorporates a variety of art mediums and techniques
- Designs lessons that engage students with varying skill levels and interests
- Delivers effective art instruction across mediums, including the media arts
- Demonstrates techniques to help students enhance their artistic skills
- Fosters a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, respect, and collaboration
- Implements effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and conducive learning atmosphere
- Assesses and evaluates student artwork through regular critiques and projects
- Provides constructive feedback to guide students' artistic development
- Organizes and curates art exhibitions and showcases of student work
- Identifies and implements opportunities to integrate the arts with other content areas through interdisciplinary collaboration and instruction
- Communicates regularly with students and families regarding student progress
- Collaborates with faculty and staff within the school and department
- Maintains and organizes supplies, ensuring materials are available and in good condition
- Maintains professional competence through a variety of activities including in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities
- Participates in curriculum and other development programs at the school and/or district level
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities of a certified professional as the principal may assign from time to time
Evaluation: In accordance with the provisions of the Weston Educator Evaluation, Growth, and Support Plan
Terms of Employment: As established by the contract between the Weston Board of Education and the Weston Teachers' Association
