Position OverviewThe Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a part‑time (0.75 FTE) Social Studies Teacher at Weston High School. This role reports to the High School Principal and the Social Studies Department Head. The successful candidate will inspire students to achieve their full potential and enrich the community.
Key Responsibilities- Embrace the diversity of the district by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion.
- Identify accommodations most effective for students, supporting their use within the classroom.
- Provide whole‑class, small‑group, and specialized instruction.
- Model a precise and expressive use of language to effectively communicate expectations, directions, and content.
- Use questions, prompts, and discussion techniques to cognitively challenge students, advance high‑level thinking, and promote metacognition.
- Intellectually engage all students through well‑designed tasks that require complex thinking and include appropriate scaffolding.
- Use formative and summative assessments to drive instruction, monitor learning, provide feedback, and facilitate student self‑monitoring.
- Collaborate with teachers and related service providers.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Licensed as a History/Social Science Teacher (8–12) in MA.
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement (SEI).
- Experience as a high school teacher, ideally in a diverse public school setting.
- Competence with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to improve.
- A commitment to support all students’ learning and development.
This is a school‑year role (184 days) represented by the Weston Education Association. The license holder receives the same salary schedule as teachers and other professional staff, and a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
