Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools are seeking to hire a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher to support Field School (grades 4-5). This is a full‑time, 7.5 hours per day (7 hours + a 30 minute unpaid lunch break), reporting to the Building Principal. About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre‑kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9‑12, a middle school for grades 6‑8, an upper elementary school for grades 4‑5, and two lower elementary schools for pre‑kindergarten through grade
3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) – a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K‑12).

• Provide daily coverage for teachers throughout the school and/or supervise study hall
• Provide coverage in other Weston Elementary Schools as needed
• Support school‑wide duties
• Provide individual and small group instruction, both in‑person and remotely
• Assist teachers in developing and implementing strategies to reinforce skills and content
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

• Bachelor's degree
• Massachusetts' Teaching license – strongly preferred
• Teaching experience preferred, ideally in a diverse public school setting
• Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
• Strong work ethic and an eagerness to improve
• A commitment to doing whatever it takes to support students learning and development

The Permanent Building Substitute will earn $33.52 per hour for the 2026-27 school year. This role qualifies for full benefits, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
