Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Health Teacher at Weston High School. This is a full‑time role reporting to the High School Principal and the Physical Education/Health Director. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.
About the Weston Public SchoolsThe district enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre‑kindergarten through grade 12 and includes a high school (grades 9‑12), a middle school (grades 6‑8), an upper elementary school (grades 4‑5), and two lower elementary schools (pre‑kindergarten through grade
3). Since 1967 the district has participated in METCO, a voluntary desegregation program enrolling about 150 K‑12 students.
- Develop standards‑based lesson plans in health education.
- Foster an environment of respect and inclusion that embraces the district’s diversity.
- Identify and support effective accommodations for individual student needs.
- Deliver whole‑class, small‑group, and specialized instruction.
- Model precise and expressive use of language in learning expectations, directions, and content explanations.
- Use questions, prompts, and discussion techniques to challenge students cognitively, advance high‑level thinking, discourse, and promote metacognition.
- Intellectually engage all students through well‑designed learning tasks requiring complex thinking and appropriate scaffolding.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instructional planning, monitor learning, provide feedback, and facilitate student self‑monitoring.
- Collaborate regularly with teachers and related service providers.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Licensed as a Health Teacher (5–12) in Massachusetts.
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement (SEI).
- Comfortable with technology, including Google Suite.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to improve.
- Commitment to supporting all students’ learning and development.
This is a school‑year role (184 days over a full school year), represented by the Weston Education Association, and entitles the teacher to the district’s salary schedule for teachers and professional staff.
