Substitute Para educator – Per Diem
Weston Public Schools is seeking a substitute para educator on a per diem basis. The starting date is immediate, and the salary is $16.35 per hour. Substitute para educators play a vital role in supporting students and maintaining continuity in the classroom or other learning environments when regular staff are absent. Whether serving on a daily or long-term basis, substitutes assist with instruction, supervision, and student engagement, ensuring a safe, supportive, and productive school environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting students with learning activities, reinforcing instruction provided by the classroom teacher.
- Supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Providing individualized or small-group support as directed by classroom teachers or special education staff.
- Assisting with classroom management and helping maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Monitoring and supporting student safety and adherence to school policies.
- Upholding computer technology acceptable-use policies.
- Following building procedures and schedules.
- Communicating effectively with teachers, students, and support staff regarding student progress and any relevant observations.
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational or support setting preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic, social, and personal growth of students.
- Flexibility in work assignments and willingness to support the safe and effective operation of the school.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Preference given to candidates who are available at least one full day per week and can commit to full-day assignments.
