Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Weston Massachusetts, On-Site with Up to 40% travel.

Position Overview:

The Senior HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Corporate HSE Standards at all company-owned or operated assets nationwide. This role provides strategic leadership to meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements throughout the asset lifecycle.

The manager will lead and develop a geographically distributed team of HSE professionals, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, joint venture partners, executives, high-level managers, and frontline personnel.

The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, including 29 CFR 1904, 1910, 1926, and OSHA PSM, and will be adept at providing technical guidance while cultivating talent and competencies within the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a positive and sustainable HSE culture at field/remote sites, coordinating employee engagement activities to meet corporate HSE objectives.
  • Provide HSE technical guidance to support all levels of the company and third-party contractor workforce, serving as a Subject Matter Expert for Corporate HSE and PSM Standards.
  • Lead or oversee incident response, investigation, and reporting, and may facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with company and contractor personnel.
  • Support the adoption of emergency response and crisis management protocols, liaising with First Responders, LEPC, SERC, OSHA, DOT, EPA, NRC, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Execute audit, assurance, and verification/validation programs to evaluate the effectiveness of safe work practices, process safety standards, environmental best practices, and company policies.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with Corporate HSE Standards, communicating gaps to contractor leadership and developing plans to address them. May also manage the Contractor HSE process, including contractor qualification and audits.
  • Design, develop, and coordinate Corporate HSE Training Programs in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, DOT).
  • Track, consolidate, and routinely report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as incidents, near-misses, and hours worked.
  • Participate in risk management studies (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If) and hazard analyses (JSA, JHA) as needed.
  • Act as the central HSE liaison for field operations managers and supervisors; to involve substantial field/operations work.
Skills and

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Science, Occupational Health and Safety).
  • Professional certifications (ASP, CSP, SMS, etc.) preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in oil, gas, chemicals, or related industries.
  • Strong leadership and influencing abilities.
  • Proven experience implementing processes, standards, and requirements across geographically dispersed and diverse work forces.
  • Proficiency in HSE management systems, risk assessments, and conducting audits.
  • Expert knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 (OSHA General Industry & Construction Standards).
  • Solid understanding of 29 CFR  (OSHA PSM).
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% to our remote field operations.
