Hiring:
Executive Director – Land’s Sake Farm

Land’s Sake Farm is a nonprofit community farm in Weston, Massachusetts, dedicated to connecting people to the land to build community and inspire lifelong stewardship. For more than 40 years, the farm has served as a vibrant hub where sustainable agriculture, education, and community come together.

Today, Land’s Sake operates a diversified, mission-driven organization with an annual budget of approximately $3M. We steward over 46 acres of conservation and agricultural land, cultivate more than 40 varieties of produce, and operate a year-round farmstand featuring Land’s Sake and locally sourced goods. Our core program areas include sustainable farming and food production, hunger relief (donating 30%+ of all produce, over 60,000 pounds annually), education programs (600+ programs serving ~10,000 participants each year), community engagement and events, and forestry and maple operations.

Through strong regional partnerships, the majority of our donated food reaches families across Greater Boston and Metro West.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Following a successful $6.5M+ capital campaign that delivered a net‑zero farmstand, expanded greenhouse and education facilities, and year‑round utilities, Land’s Sake Farm is seeking an Executive Director to build on this strong foundation and guide the organization through its next chapter of impact. Joining a dedicated team, an engaged Board of Directors, and a passionate community of volunteers, donors, and partners, the Executive Director will play a highly visible role in deepening Land’s Sake’s reach, strengthening its financial foundation, and ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.

Specifically, the Executive Director will:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision that drives mission clarity, growth, and sustainability
. In close collaboration with the Board and senior team, set short‑and‑long‑term priorities, translate them into clear goals and work plans, and ensure Land’s Sake’s story and impact are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Lead a fundraising effort that grows and diversifies support
. Serve as the organization’s lead fundraiser, building on an established ~$1M annual goal, cultivating individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners, and engaging board members as active fundraising partners.
  • Ensure the financial and operational health of the organization
. Oversee budgeting and financial planning for a ~$3M budget, maintain strong fiscal stewardship, and ensure the right systems and processes are in place across farming, retail, education, events, and hunger relief.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire staff across diverse functional areas
. Supervise and mentor senior staff, foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability, and champion the people‑management systems and practices the organization needs to thrive.
  • Partner with the Board to drive effective governance and strategic leadership
. Prepare planning materials, activate board members as ambassadors and fundraisers, and support board development and diversification.
  • Serve as a passionate ambassador and community connector
. Build strong relationships with key partners including the Town of Weston, hunger‑relief organizations, education partners, and the farm’s advisory community.
THE CANDIDATE PROFILE

The Executive Director role calls for candidates who possess the following experiences, competencies, and personal qualities:

  • A champion for Land’s Sake’s mission and values
. You are inspired by the power of land, food, and community to connect people and create lasting change. You believe in the importance of environmental stewardship, equitable access to food and education, and the role community institutions play in public life, and you are energized to lead a team that embodies these values.
  • A nonprofit professional with senior leadership experience
. You bring 15+ years of experience, including 5+ in a leadership role, at nonprofit or mission‑driven organizations, ideally with multiple programs and complex operations. You understand the full arc of nonprofit leadership: fundraising, financial management, team‑building, board…
