Nurse, Public Health Nurse

1:1 Nurse at Weston Public Schools

Weston Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 Nurse to develop, implement, and manage a student’s Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP), assist on the school bus, and provide care during the school day. This is a full‑time school year position (Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑3:30 pm) reporting to the Director of Health Services and the Director of Student Services.

• Provide everyday care for students according to their IHCP.
• Collect information about students’ health and development.
• Administer medication and medically prescribed treatments.
• Assess responses to nursing interventions and revise the database, nursing diagnoses, and care plan as needed.
• Consult with the School Nurse, Director of Health Services, School Physician, and Principal to review and revise students’ IHCPs, policies, and procedures.
• Promote positive safety procedures and ensure the school has a communicated medical emergency plan.
• Respond to emergency situations.

• Valid license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (or related field if other requirements met).
• Preferred School Nurse license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Certified in CPR for healthcare professionals.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience in school, community, or child health settings.
• Recent emergency management experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge:
  Microsoft Word, Excel, electronic medical record systems.
• Completion of an orientation program as required by the Department of Public Health.
