Role OverviewThe Staff Accountant will assist the Senior Accountant, Controller and finance team with daily accounting activities, month‑end close procedures, and ongoing process‑improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diving into data, improving workflows, and helping build a more efficient accounting function. As the company scales, this role offers meaningful opportunities to take on more advanced analytical and operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Support efforts to streamline and modernize accounting processes and systems.
- Perform core accounting tasks including journal entries, AP/AR processing, bank reconciliations, and account analyses.
- Contribute to month‑end and year‑end close activities.
- Assist in building or optimizing automation workflows and analytical tools (e.g., Alteryx, Python, Power Query, or similar).
- Prepare routine financial reports, schedules, and internal analyses.
- Maintain accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal control standards.
- Partner with leadership on ad‑hoc projects, reporting enhancements, and workflow improvements.
- Utilize Yardi for property management accounting tasks; training provided if new to the platform.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, CPA Track/CPA preferred
- Previous experience and/or strong interest in data analytics, automation, and process improvement.
- Familiarity with tools such as Excel (advanced), Power Query, or other automation platforms; exposure to Python or Alteryx is a plus.
- Experience with Yardi preferred but not required.
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Self‑motivated and curious, with a desire to grow both accounting and technical skill sets.
