We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our tight knit Payroll team. This position will be based in our Westport, CT office. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in hands on payroll processing. Demonstrates the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information, including personally identifiable information (e.g., Social Security numbers), compensation, personnel actions, termination terms, organizational changes, and business plans.
Ensures all communications and documentation are managed on a strict need to know basis and in compliance with company policies and ethical standards.
Process regular and off cycle U.S. payroll, including collecting inputs, performing calculations, and ensuring timely, accurate payments. Ensure all payroll transactions comply with internal policies, federal and state regulations, and tax requirements, including timely tax payments and filings. Serve as a backup to team members and support knowledge sharing across the payroll function. Maintain and enhance process documentation; recommend improvements to boost accuracy, efficiency, and system optimization.
Provide outstanding customer service by responding promptly and professionally to employee and stakeholder inquiries. Partner with cross-functional teams to support payroll-related initiatives, reporting, and projects.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent payroll-related education/training
5–7+ years of hands‑on payroll processing experience
Strong understanding of multijurisdictional payroll tax laws and regulations
Working knowledge of accounting principles related to payroll
Demonstrated ability to audit and reconcile payroll data for accuracy and compliance
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines effectively
Preferred QualificationsExperience with Workday Payroll
FPC certification (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
