The Sales Planning Manager plays a critical role in delivering Newman’s Own’s growth objectives by supporting the commercial planning process, helping optimize trade investment, and ensuring operational excellence across the sales organization. The role reports into the Senior Director, Revenue Management. This position supports customer‑level trade strategy development, maintains promotional calendars and ensures accrual accuracy and spending discipline. Additionally the role includes project‑management for new product launches and major commercial initiatives, the Sales Planning Manager owns timelines, communication flow, and deliverables to ensure Field Sales has what they need—when they need it—to win with customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES SalesPlanning & Business Management
- Support the development and ongoing management of the sales plan, aligning with corporate revenue targets, brand strategies, and customer-level growth goals.
- Support the monthly and quarterly business planning cadence, ensuring accurate inputs for volume, trade, pricing, and promotional assumptions.
- Support RGM initiatives including price-pack architecture, promo strategy, and post-event analytics.
- Help ready the Field Sales team with innovation launches to ensure all material and sell-in information is available for customer reviews.
- Work with Field Sales to optimize trade activity for effectiveness and efficiencies.
- Work with Supply Chain and Demand Planning for forecast clarity and support seasonal/innovation readiness.
- Collaborate with Marketing on innovation and platform activation to ensure seamless customer execution.
- Support Sales in promo calendar development and post-event recaps.
- Partner with RGM and FP&A on accrual accuracy, spending guardrails, and scenario planning.
- Provide teams with reporting to track trade spend by customer, provide internal scorecards for management and identify process improvements to drive work/task efficiencies.
- Coordinate new customer setup, new item setup across Salsify, customer portals, and internal systems.
- Support customer portal maintenance including distribution voids, item updates, price changes, top-offs, and data hygiene.
- Maintain and improve internal processes for item master accuracy, pricing files, promotional calendars, and customer programming.
- Set and maintain new product launch timelines from materials needed thru to post launch.
- 6+ years of CPG experience required, ideally in Sales Planning, Sales Operations, Account Management, or Revenue Management.
- Food or beverage category experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage forecasts, customer plans, and sales processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen), and planning tools.
- Experience with Salsify, customer portals (e.g., Walmart Retail Link, Amazon Vendor Central), TPM/TPO platforms, and PIM/ERP systems preferred.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to simplify complex information for Sales teams.
