Position Overview

The Manager, Benefits supports the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of the organization’s health and welfare and retirement benefit programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert for benefits operations, compliance, analytics, and vendor management, while providing support to the Senior Manager, Benefits.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Welfare Benefits:
  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits
  • Resolve complex eligibility, claims, and vendor issues
  • Oversee benefits data accuracy across HRIS, payroll, and vendor platforms
  • Partner with brokers and carriers on plan performance, and service issues
  • Manage plan documents, policies, and communications
Retirement & 401(k) Administration:
  • Serve as primary operational lead for the organization’s 401(k) plan
  • Oversee payroll integrations, contribution validation, and file feeds
  • Manage compliance activities including nondiscrimination testing, audits, and filings
  • Analyze participation, deferral rates, and plan utilization trends
Benefits Analytics & Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain benefits and retirement dashboards and metrics
  • Analyze benefits costs, utilization, and participation trends
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling related to benefits programs
  • Maintain accurate benefit data in Dayforce HRIS and Empyrean systems
  • Support plan audits and vendor reconciliations
  • Identify opportunities to optimize benefits
Open Enrollment & Program Execution:
  • Administer annual open enrollment planning and execution
  • Manage enrollment timelines, vendor coordination, and system configuration
  • Oversee development of benefits communications and educational materials
  • Identify opportunities to improve employee understanding and engagement
Process Improvement & Team Support:
  • Deliver insights that improve employee experience, cost management, and regulatory compliance
  • Identify opportunities to streamline benefits processes and improve data accuracy
  • Develop standard operating procedures and controls
  • Provide guidance, training, and oversight to junior benefits staff
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR business partners and managers
Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 5‑8+ years of experience in benefits administration or total rewards
  • Demonstrated experience managing health & welfare and retirement programs
  • Strong knowledge of Benefit laws
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills, advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Results focused; roll up your sleeves attitude; strong team player
  • Ability to communicate, lead and influence
  • Excited to build, develop and implement; can work in grey space
  • Proficiency in HRIS and leave management software, Dayforce experience a plus
