Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED
Job SpecificationThe Para educator (Tutor) supports instructional services for youth by assisting teachers with classroom activities, reinforcing academic lessons, and helping maintain a structured, positive learning environment. This position provides direct tutoring to students, supports classroom management, and performs clerical and instructional tasks under the direction of certified teaching staff. The Para educator models professionalism, maintains confidentiality, and contributes to a safe, respectful, and well-organized educational setting.
Key responsibilities include assisting with lesson implementation, supervising students when teachers are unavailable, preparing instructional materials, maintaining classroom organization, and supporting student engagement through individualized or small-group tutoring. The Para educator also participates in professional development, follows school and agency policies, and demonstrates appropriate conduct, communication, and professionalism at all times.
Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
Supports classroom instruction — Assists teachers with daily lessons, classroom management, and preparation of the learning environment.
Provides direct tutoring — Works with students individually or in small groups to reinforce curriculum, strengthen skills, and support academic progress.
Maintains professionalism & confidentiality — Protects student records, follows communication protocols, and models appropriate conduct at all times.
Assists with classroom operations — Helps with filing, grading, copying, equipment use, and maintaining a clean, organized learning space.
Supervises students — Monitors the classroom when the teacher is out, supports behavior expectations, and treats all students with respect.
Participates in school routines — Attends regularly, arrives punctually, completes required paperwork, and communicates promptly with the principal.
Models positive behavior — Demonstrates integrity, fairness, appropriate language, and professional grooming and conduct.

Work Location: This vacancy is located at Bridge City Center for Youth in Bridge City, Louisiana.
Appointment Type: Full time
Compensation: $16.43 hourly
Work Schedule: The incumbent will work 7.5 hours per workday. The incumbent of this position will serve as a tutor for Riverside School.
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
