We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Juvenile Justice Specialist 5, a senior-level leader who guides daily facility functions, supports and mentors staff, and helps create a structured, trauma-informed environment where youth can heal, grow, and succeed.
This role advances agency policies, strengthens safety and accountability, and champions positive youth development across the facility.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED or one year of experience in any field plus:
- Three years of experience in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting with responsibility for rehabilitation of delinquent youth, clinical care, custody, or security; OR
- Three years of experience in Probation and Parole.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. In accordance with PREA (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the CFR, an applicant found to have engaged in sexual abuse or related disqualifying conduct will be disqualified.

- Serve as the Operations Shift Supervisor, overseeing daily facility operations and providing leadership across assigned areas, including supervision of a housing unit when needed.
- Maintain safety, security, and order by supervising youth and staff movement, ensuring doors and gates are secured, conducting building and perimeter checks, and completing required security rounds in accordance with OJJ and facility procedures.
- Oversee youth movement during meals, education, recreation, pill call, and medical or mental health appointments, ensuring custody and control at all times.
- Prepare, review, and submit shift reports, incident documentation, and other required records, determining appropriate follow-up actions as needed.
- Participate in ACA and PbS audits, assist with developing policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures, and serve as a training officer for staff.
- Support facility safety initiatives by coordinating safety programs, developing safety-related policies, and tracking accident and hazard data to identify trends and corrective actions.
- Contribute to treatment team meetings by sharing observations and recommendations, and serve on Code of Conduct committees when assigned.
- Supervise subordinate staff by managing time and attendance records, completing performance evaluations, identifying training needs, and providing coaching and consultation.
- Collaborate with the Juvenile Justice Specialist 6 and Corrections Lieutenant Colonel on personnel matters and cross-disciplinary coordination.
- Respond to emergencies, conduct searches, and enforce all contraband control policies, ensuring proper documentation is completed.
- Remain available for twenty-four-hour call and perform related duties as assigned, including acting in the absence of higher-level supervisory staff.

Compensation Information: The Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 title has a Special Entrance Rate of $1,971.20 biweekly. Appointment Type:
Full time, probationary.
