K‑5 Extended Day Group Leader
The Westwood Extended Day is seeking K‑5 Group Leaders to work Monday through Friday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Early Release Wednesdays (approximately every other week) 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Group leaders plan activities, provide supervision and offer support to grade‑level groups, and oversee designated areas during large‑group activities like snack time and outdoor recess.
Availability during February and April Massachusetts public school vacation weeks is preferred.
The hourly pay rate is based on education and experience.

Essential Functions- Plan and facilitate daily engaging activities that support the academic, physical, social and emotional growth of children, including:
- academic enrichment
- free play & sports
- art & music
- cooking & crafts
- fitness activities & outdoor games
- board games, puzzles & other indoor games
- Supervise and support children completing homework and academic projects.
- Support in the mentoring and evaluation of high school interns.
- Communicate as needed with caregivers and school staff.
- Participate in trainings, professional development and staff meetings.
- High school diploma and at least one year of college required. Candidates working toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a preferred field (e.g., education, psychology, counseling) are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with school‑aged children.

Work takes place in a fast paced school environment including offices, auditorium, gym, cafeteria, hallways and outdoors (playground and fields).
Physical RequirementsRequires sufficient vision to read printed documents and view detail on a computer screen. Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Must be able to move quickly if needed in order to maintain visual surveillance and implement all bolting/lost child policies with fidelity.

BenefitsSigning Bonus: there is a signing bonus of up to $500 for Group Leaders who have not previously worked for the Town of Westwood or Westwood Schools. The bonus is based on the number of days worked in a regular schedule (1 day = $200 bonus, 2‑3 days = $300 bonus, 4 or more days = $500 bonus). The bonus is paid in the employee’s 3rd paycheck with Westwood Extended Day.
Tuition Reimbursement:
Westwood Extended Day will provide tuition reimbursement of up to $500 per school year for Group Leaders. Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement after completion of three (3) months of employment in the program. Tuition reimbursement must be approved by the Extended Day Director based on course completion and the course must be relevant to employment in the Westwood Extended Day program.
Paid Holidays: up to 12 paid holidays if the qualifying holiday falls during the school year and on a day that the employee normally works.
