Job Summary
Leidos Engineering is seeking a Construction Manager to work alongside management, construction crews, and lead engineers for a large electric utility client in the northeast/New England region. The role is part of the Power Delivery Services Division, providing consulting services for public- and investor‑owned electric utilities across the United States.
Responsibilities- Manage overall construction activities on assigned projects, including material management, construction (EPC), and logistics for a large scaled program with multiple EPC/Design Build and logistics contractors.
- Develop and review construction plans, outage coordination, commissioning planning, and safety planning.
- Interface directly with the client to report progress, costs, schedule, and risks across a portfolio of transmission and distribution projects.
- Work with multiple Project Managers, schedulers, project controllers, and engineers overseeing direct assigned work to general and logistics contractors.
- Conduct on‑site construction management briefings and prepare status reports reflecting project schedule and uncertainties.
- Communicate and collaborate across program and functional support areas, including client, EPC project teams, functional leadership, subcontractors, and support personnel.
- Ensure compliance with utility client standards and processes.
- Perform contractor evaluations, project reconciliations, and close‑out activities following project completion.
- Oversee proposal development efforts that define project scope, schedule, and budgets.
- Be available to work extended hours during certain construction phases as required by the project.
- Provide storm outage support and emergency response planning.
- Write comprehensive and technical project reports.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the U.S. electric utility industry.
- Demonstrated experience working with field personnel, construction crews, engineering personnel, and utility staff.
- Recent and in-depth expertise managing large‑scale Transmission and Distribution Programs.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Regional and local travel required; valid U.S. driver’s license needed.
