Senior Engineer, Distribution Automation; Hybrid

Hybrid schedule guidelines: employees must work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and a third day set by employee and supervisor. Employees must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed.

Design, implement, and support wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems to enable distribution automation and electric operations; ensure optimal network configuration for SCADA data applications; collaborate with senior staff to select appropriate protocols, technologies, products, and services; troubleshoot and build the distribution automation communications network; coordinate with Field Communications; and support construction and maintenance of infrastructure.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering assignments for wireless data telecommunication systems.
• Design, implement, and operate wireless SCADA data telecommunication systems to support Eversource’s electric operations.
• Provide support for field construction and maintenance of wireless SCADA data telecommunication assets, including digital microwave, mobile, fixed wireless networks, paging systems, and subsystems.
• Perform data analysis of wireless SCADA data communication systems to enhance and troubleshoot SCADA data applications.
• Contribute to the configuration and specification of SCADA data wireless telecom equipment and its interface to field RTU devices.
• Troubleshoot events where field device communication is mis‑operated or impacts remote operations.
• Apply knowledge and comply with requirements and standards set by industry organizations and regulatory bodies such as IEEE, IEC, NERC, etc.
• Exhibit a "can‑do" attitude to work through issues and changing priorities positively.

• General understanding of the design, specification, and installation of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems over radio, cellular, and fiber media.
• Basic understanding of SCADA engineering concepts, particularly the DNP
  3.0 protocol.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Strong ability to coordinate with a team to design and build projects.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five (5) years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems.
• Preferred experience with wireless SCADA data telecommunications infrastructure within a utility using the DNP
  3.0 protocol.
• Preferred understanding of electric utility systems.

• Must be available to work emergency storm assignments as required.
• Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH.
• Travel throughout the service territory is required 20% of the time, involving industrial environments, ladders, uneven surfaces, and outdoor exposure.
• The remaining 80% of work is performed in an office setting requiring standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, writing, and typing.
• The selected candidate will have a storm response role defined and expected to support restoration activities.
