Compliance Specialist 2 - Hazardous Building Materials
You will join our Hazardous Building Materials Team in our Worcester or our Westwood office, where you'll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our HBMA consulting team specializes in identifying, evaluating, and managing hazardous building materials in a wide range of facilities, including industrial, municipal, healthcare, and educational settings. With deep expertise in asbestos, lead, PCBs, and other regulated materials, our consultants provide comprehensive services from initial inspections and material sampling to design, specification development, and regulatory compliance support. We work collaboratively with clients and design teams to ensure safe, cost-effective solutions that support renovation, demolition, and new construction projects.
Our team is dedicated to protecting human health and the environment while helping clients navigate complex environmental regulations with confidence.
As a valuable part of our Hazardous Building Materials Team, a Compliance Specialist 2 will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:
- Provide environmental consulting for hazardous building materials (HBM), including asbestos, PCBs (including PCB-impacted materials), lead, and universal waste
- Conduct environmental assessments and field sampling
- Assist in developing abatement specifications and project documentation
- Perform on-site abatement monitoring and observation during demolition or renovation activities
- Prepare accurate and timely environmental reports
What You'll Need:
- 3 years of experience in consulting or a related field
- BS degree in Environmental Science or a similar educational background
- Experience with hazardous building material assessment and abatement preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently on small specific assignments, as well as part of a large multidisciplinary project team
- Must work fluently with Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Requirements:
- MA, RI and/or CT Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor Licensure
- NIOSH 582 Asbestos Analytical Certification preferred, but will provide training
- OSHA 40 HAZWOPER Certified preferred, but will provide training
