Xaverian is an independent Catholic school for boys in grades 7-12, sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers. Located in Westwood, Massachusetts, this college-prep school welcomes students from approximately 90 communities across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Xaverian was established in 1963 and presently enrolls over 960 students.

General Expectations

Xaverian is seeking a full-time, year-round, entry-level Gift Officer to cultivate, solicit, and steward annual and emerging leadership-level donors. This frontline fundraising role is responsible for building meaningful donor relationships, managing a defined portfolio, qualifying prospective donors, and helping strengthen Xaverian’s philanthropic pipeline.

The successful candidate will be a warm and confident relationship-builder, a strong communicator, and a detail-oriented self-starter who follows through consistently. The Gift Officer will work closely with advancement leadership and colleagues across the department to advance Xaverian’s mission and fundraising priorities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125-150 donors and prospects.
  • Build relationships through personal outreach, donor visits, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop engagement and solicitation strategies informed by each donor’s interests and connection to Xaverian.
  • Qualify prospective donors and identify opportunities for deeper philanthropic involvement.
  • Recommend qualified prospects for leadership-level giving conversations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate contact reports, donor information, and strategy updates in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
  • Participate in prospect review meetings and collaborate with advancement leadership on portfolio strategy.
  • Support annual giving, leadership giving, campaign, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Attend donor gatherings, regional programs, and other school events.
  • Assist with solicitations and revenue-generating events.
  • Collaborate with advancement operations to support accurate reporting and tracking.
  • Participate in occasional evening and weekend activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, relationship-centered, and mission-driven advancement culture.
Qualifications And Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in fundraising, advancement, relationship management, nonprofit development, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in getting to know donors and members of the Xaverian community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to timely and thoughtful follow through.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage a portfolio and multiple priorities independently.
  • Good judgment and a demonstrated commitment to discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team.
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or a similar constituent relationship management system preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Appreciation for Xaverian’s Catholic identity and mission as a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events and regional travel.
