Role and Scope
The Manager of Data Innovation leads the company’s transition to automation and data-based decision making, ensuring the right initiatives are prioritized by quantifying business value, risks and operationalization, and employing expert knowledge of learning models and data innovation techniques. The role requires cross‑functional collaboration, change management, and the ability to translate stakeholder needs into learning models and automation initiatives while delivering end‑to‑end products.
EssentialFunctions
- Exemplifies an innovative mindset across the company with an eye on high‑business‑value projects and quick operationalization.
- Leads the transition to data‑based decision making and is passionate about workforce transformation and change management.
- Creates an enterprise‑wide data foundation, evaluating source data quality and data relationships.
- Ideates, visualizes, showcases, and convinces stakeholders throughout the innovation project lifecycle.
- Aligns deliverables with stakeholder needs, staggering incremental products to deliver value on schedule.
- Leads and prioritizes engineering modeling and analytical tool development to support company needs and strategic directions.
- Sets targets for innovation initiatives and quantifies the benefits of build‑vs‑buy decisions through research and literature reviews.
- Acts as liaison across the engineering organization, working agilely with IT.
- Advances the company’s strategic goals with regulators and other stakeholders.
- Leads a diverse team of data analysts, data engineers, and electrical engineers; supports hiring, mentorship, and onboarding.
- Self‑imposes standards of excellence and maintains accountability to promote customer‑first standards.
- Presents internally to stakeholders and externally at professional organizations such as IEEE.
- Drives regulatory responses and ensures company representation in regulatory proceedings, technical sessions, and working groups.
- Highly knowledgeable in electric power systems.
- Expertise with complex analytical modeling and data models.
- Strong optimization and probabilistic, risk‑based analysis skills.
- Proficient in coding (Matlab, Python, R, SQL) and databases.
- Experience with cloud computing in Linux and Windows environments;
Azure is a plus. - Effective presenter, skilled cross‑functionally with diverse teams, and experienced in cost controllership.
- Regulatory project experience is a plus.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data science or analytics, utility or energy sector, leading large complex projects, and three (3) years of supervisory roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline required;
Master’s degree preferred.
Must be available for emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA/CT/NH and across the service territory as required. Work is performed in an office environment.
