Role Description

The Lead Preschool Teacher is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Westwood, NJ. This role is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for children ages 2–4, ensuring a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. The Lead Preschool Teacher will guide daily routines, support social and emotional growth, and promote early literacy, numeracy, and creative expression through play‑based learning.

Responsibilities include observing and documenting student progress, maintaining classroom safety and cleanliness, and collaborating with support staff to deliver consistent, high‑quality care. The role also involves regular communication with families, participation in staff meetings and professional development, and alignment with BYU’s mission and program standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching preschool or kindergarten‑age children.
  • Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development that supports holistic growth and aligns with early learning standards.
  • Effective Communication skills for engaging young children, collaborating with colleagues, and building positive relationships with families.
  • Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of child development, classroom management, and play‑based learning approaches.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment and follow licensing and health regulations.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain, and eligibility to pass required background checks.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a genuine commitment to supporting children’s well‑being and growth.
