The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is recruiting Financial Clerks for the Fiscal Services Unit in Purchasing and Accounts Payable roles in Wethersfield, CT.
Examples of Duties- Processes facility food orders and other commodity orders
- Processes maintenance requisitions; edits and verifies coding
- Solicits quotes
- Creates e‑pro requisitions
- Creates direct purchase orders
- Dispatches purchase orders
- Processes change orders
- Decommits or adds money to purchase orders
- Receives invoices from facilities, matches to statements and forwards to Accounts Payable for processing
- Enters receipts in Core‑CT
- Follows up with vendors for open purchase orders
- Assists A/P in obtaining missing invoices
- Processes special activity orders as needed
- Assists FAO in resolving vendor‑related issues
- Prepares STARS or EPM reports
- Assists in preparation of contracts
- Assists in monthly procurement card audits
- Performs related duties as required
- Knowledge of
- Basic bookkeeping, accounting, and financial record‑keeping procedures
- Payroll procedures, financial terminology and coding, statements, and budget preparations

Two (2) years of clerical experience in accounting, financial record‑keeping or bookkeeping.
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions AllowedCollege training may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one‑half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in purchasing
- Experience and knowledge of accounts payable process
- Experience with financial systems
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Teams in a professional setting
- Experience with purchasing/procurement cards
- Experience running reports
- Experience multitasking and processing high volumes of work with accuracy
- Experience communicating and following up on outstanding issues
Persons having responsibility for supervising or observing the behavior of inmates or custodial clients will be required to possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification by the time of permanent appointment.
