Position Details
Part-time Office Assistant, Wethersfield Office, Connecticut
- Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm;
Thursday, Friday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm - Location:
Wethersfield, CT
Perform a wide variety of clerical duties, including answering phones, processing incoming mail, and sending correspondence to customers and/or other agencies/jurisdictions.
- Preparing passenger packets for review
- Entering data into the Passenger Endorsement Database
- Processing requests with DCF by entering information into the DCF portal
- Preparing boxes for storage
- Researching customer issues regarding the processing and receiving of endorsements
Examples of Duties:
- Typing: Type a variety of materials; enter and retrieve data on computers, tablets, and other electronic equipment
- Filing: Set up and maintain office procedures, filing and indexing systems, and forms for own use
- Correspondence: Compose routine correspondence
- Report Writing: Compile and generate recurrent technical, statistical or financial reports, selecting and presenting data as needed
- Interpersonal: Provide general information and referral services, respond to inquiries, apply agency policies and state statutes, and lead lower–level employees in clerical tasks
- Processing: Maintain calendars, process documents, exercise discretion, handle purchase requisitions and orders, prepare payment lists and invoices, receive shipments, maintain files and ledgers, perform accounting tasks, and maintain inventory
- Knowledge of office systems and procedures, including proper telephone usage and filing
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication, and arithmetical computation skills
- Ability to perform a full range of clerical tasks, operate office equipment (computers, tablets), use office suite software, schedule and prioritize workflow, and read and interpret complex instructions
- Two (2) years of general clerical work experience
- College training may be substituted: fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one/half (1/2) year of experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years
- Experience working with CATER (Connecticut Area Teleprocessing and Environmental Resources) or other mainframe licensing systems
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and laws
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience in customer service
