Job Description

Title:

Elementary Summer School Teacher - Successful Transition to Kindergarten

Position Summary

The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our students' ongoing education in a safe and secure learning environment. Our schools are demographically diverse and are characterized by respectful behavior, trusting relationships, caring educators/administrators/staff, and continuous learning.

The Wethersfield district has an anticipated opening for two (2) Elementary Teachers to design and implement four sessions of the Successful Transition to Kindergarten program. This program directly supports the WPS District Continuous Improvement Plan (DCIP) goals for Kindergarten Readiness, Family & Community Engagement, and Equity in Access.

The program runs as a 4-day (2 hours per day) transition experience in July for incoming kindergarten students across four weekly sessions:
July 69, July 1316, July 2023, and July 2730. The teacher receives 0.25 hours of preparation time per hour of instruction. While students are in class, the Wethersfield Early Childhood Collaborative facilitates a parallel parent and caregiver program.

The teacher will attend orientation meeting(s) with the Family and Early Childhood Coordinator, WECC Coordinator, and fellow Transition to K teacher prior to the program start, not to exceed four (4) hours.
