Math Tutor

Emerson Williams Elementary School has an opening for a Math Tutor. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with superior communication skills to provide student intervention support for the  academic year. The Math Tutor will work across all grade levels (K-6) to support students with direct, targeted intervention/instruction to promote student growth toward grade-level expectations and goal mastery.

Responsibilities:

• Implement daily lesson plans for students targeting individualized support in reading and/or math
• Work directly with students to provide targeted small group/one-on-one instruction as well as routine push-in support in classrooms
• Provide students with positive feedback and encouragement
• Support student understanding of math and literacy concepts and demonstration of fluency skills
• Track and maintain records of student progress
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student needs through small group instruction, communicate goals/achievements, progress, student challenges, and changes in interventions
• Foster a positive learning environment that is sensitive to student needs and promotes increased learning performance
• Provide the building reading consultant, curriculum specialist, and classroom teachers with regular reports of student progress toward learning goals
• May be asked to substitute for another staff member during instances where there is no other substitute available

Qualifications:

• Hold a minimum of an Associate's Degree
• Elementary Teacher certification is preferred, but not required
• Enthusiasm for helping children
• Respectful/collaborative attitude
• Ability to manage plans and drive positive results
• Patience, flexibility, and adaptability
