Essential Job Functions- Supervise and coordinate the daily weighing, measuring, batching, kitting, and staging of minor ingredients.
- Ensure minor ingredients are weighed, measured, and batched accurately according to batch sheets, formulas, and batching systems.
- Verify ingredient identity, lot numbers, expiration dates, quantities, and units of measure.
- Ensure ingredient kits are accurately assembled, labeled, sequenced, and staged for production.
- Review production schedules and prioritize work to ensure ingredients are prepared and available when needed.
- Monitor workflow and adjust employee assignments as production priorities change.
- Maintain ingredient and batch traceability throughout the process.
- Identify and promptly communicate ingredient, inventory, batching, or documentation discrepancies.
- Operate and oversee the proper use of scales, batching systems, barcode scanners, computers, and related equipment.
- Perform basic equipment checks and report equipment problems or malfunctions to Maintenance or management.
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work and staging areas.
- Provide daily direction, instruction, and supervision to department employees and sanitation team.
- Assign work based on production needs, employee qualifications, and staffing levels.
- Train employees in batching procedures, equipment operation, documentation, food safety, quality, sanitation, and safety requirements.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and adherence to company policies.
- Provide coaching and feedback to employees and address performance concerns promptly.
- Communicate employee performance, attendance, or disciplinary concerns to the VP of Operations.
- Ensure adequate staffing and communicate staffing needs or concerns to management.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, communication, and a positive work environment.
- Lead by example in following company policies and established procedures.
- Statistics indicate a high degree of emphasis is placed on safety: safe work habits are developed in subordinates; a worker-friendly environment is always maintained; employee safety receives sustained attention and there are no accidents due to unsafe conditions.
- High-quality standards are emphasized: decreased waste due to scrap, re-work, abuse, and conservation of efforts; employee creativity and involvement are solicited and encouraged; adheres to the concept of constant improvement in the quality of their performances.
- High food-safety and food-quality standards are emphasized and maintained. Follows plant GMPs and ensures compliance of job duties with SQF standards.
- Adequate leadership and management are provided to enable achievement of plant goals, excellent personnel performance, and employee growth through significant coaching and skills development.
- Personnel complaints and worker problems arising on the job receive prompt, fair, and impartial attention; files are maintained to enable review of the circumstances and to support Company decisions.
- Ensure batch records, logs, labels, and system entries are accurate and completed on time.
- Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, and department needs to employees.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of supervisory experience, 5 – 7 years of team leader experience.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing, production, batching, kitting, warehousing, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and follow batch sheets, formulas, work instructions, and production schedules.
- Ability to work with weights, measurements, lot numbers, expiration dates, and production documentation.
- Ability to operate computers, scales, barcode scanners, batching systems, and related equipment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively train, coach, and direct employees.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
