Overview

Naph Care is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team of medical professionals in the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women in Wetumpka, AL. As a Correctional Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will work under the supervision of a psychiatrist, alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, to provide mental health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for the facility residents. Working within a controlled environment with security as a top priority, you will be engaged in a variety of duties addressing a diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose psychiatric disorders.
  • Prescribe, adjust, and discontinue medications as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies with immediate interventions and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational trainings related to mental health care.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates, including court mandates and standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals, to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff respond to patients' needs.
Qualifications
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in Alabama.
  • Current and unrestricted RN and NP license in Alabama.
  • Current DEA registration in state.
  • Active BLS/CPR certificate (AHA preferred).
  • Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with computer use.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary or confidential information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and compliance with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities

Must stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining balance and endurance.
