Responsibilities- Arrive at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed and dressed, and ready to work.
- Work all scheduled shifts and attend required training courses and meetings.
- Be visible, actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process every customer transaction through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently, ensuring that every item is scanned.
- Handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, etc.) and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to Management or Pricing/Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for rewards programs, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines, maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues; notify store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., stocking, cleaning).
- Excellent customer service skills, including greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, providing accurate information, and making product/service recommendations.
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete documentation.
- Physical ability to move or handle merchandise weighing 0-100 pounds, stand or bend as needed for the duration of a shift.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk, handling monetary transactions, or in a customer service role.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and work varied hours/days as business dictates.
- Understanding of and compliance with company quality goals and safety regulations.
- Ability to stand and/or bend over a worktable for the duration of the shift (with reasonable accommodation).
- Ability to move or handle merchandise weighing 0-50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs; with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
- Experience handling monetary transactions.
- Understanding of and compliance with company quality goals.
