Position Summary
The Plumber’s Helper (or Apprentice Plumber) assists licensed plumbers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems. This position is ideal for individuals starting a career in the plumbing trade who wish to gain hands-on experience while developing technical skills under supervision. The role involves supporting daily operations, preparing job sites, handling materials, and ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Assist journeyman or master plumbers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
- Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes using proper tools and techniques.
- Help identify and locate plumbing problems such as leaks, blockages, or defective components.
- Retrieve, organize, and load materials and tools for job sites.
- Prepare and clean work areas before and after job completion.
- Support in testing plumbing systems for leaks and ensuring proper functionality.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and working condition.
- Learn and adhere to local and state plumbing codes and regulations.
- Assist with documentation of work completed as required.
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Basic understanding of plumbing tools and materials (training provided).
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn the plumbing trade.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina; ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined spaces or varying conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or general labor (a plus but not required).
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude, punctuality, and willingness to take initiative.
- Field-based role requiring work in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Exposure to weather changes, wet or dusty conditions, and confined work spaces.
- Safety training and protective gear provided.
