Job DescriptionStars School is a growing, specialized language‑based school dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and other language‑based learning differences. Position OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and highly qualified Orton‑Gillingham Certified Tutor to provide individualized and small‑group structured literacy instruction to students in grades 1–8. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with dyslexia and related learning differences and will value collaboration, creativity, and relationship‑building within a dynamic school setting.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized and small‑group literacy instruction using the Orton‑Gillingham approach and other structured literacy methodologies.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans based on student needs, progress, and learning profiles.
- Utilize multisensory instructional strategies to support phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Support students in building confidence, self‑advocacy skills, and positive learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and maintain timely session notes and progress documentation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and school staff to support student goals and instructional consistency.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with families and school districts as needed.
- Follow student IEPs, accommodation plans, and individualized learning goals.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and evolving school culture.
- Must hold Orton‑Gillingham certification from an IDA accredited institution or program.
- Experience working with students with dyslexia, language‑based learning differences, and special education needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Reading, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of structured literacy, phonics‑based intervention, and multisensory instruction.
- Ability to create engaging, individualized lessons that meet diverse learner needs.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and positively within a growing school environment.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor degree.
- Prior experience in a language‑based, special education, or independent school setting.
- Familiarity with IEP implementation and progress monitoring.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary educational teams.
Part‑time
Compensation$35 to $50 per hour
