Systems Administrator, Cloud Computing
The Server and Virtualization Administrator will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The individual will administer ongoing support, configuration, deployment, proactive monitoring, and maintenance for Epic and other South Shore Health System applications, and the underlying operating systems, services and virtualization platforms. The role will understand performance metrics, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot capacity or other performance issues.
The individual will apply platform and software upgrades to production and non‑production components to maintain the highest level of availability and performance. The Server and Virtualization Administrator will collaborate with other Information Systems colleagues, Information Security Officer, Information Systems Leadership and stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and support cost‑effective and functional information security controls for the organization. The candidate must be an enthusiastic and flexible team player who possesses healthcare operational knowledge, project management and organizational skills.
They must be able to explain complex technical concepts in terms understandable to end‑users, demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, create project documentation and technical writing, and exercise discretion and independent judgment on workflow design, problem solving and other projects that support business needs.

Responsibilities- Participate in project implementation plans, system implementation, ongoing operational support, proactive analysis, and capacity planning.
- Administer and manage networked print queues in Epic and other software applications.
- Install, configure and administer network print servers and print server‑monitoring systems.
- Manage and configure the system mail configuration on Epic and other application servers.
- Proactively manage and configure physical and logical storage volumes for application servers.
- Utilize existing web application security, network, perimeter, and host‑based intrusion detection systems to monitor network and web server activity for security breaches.
- Perform file system management on Windows/Linux operating systems and application servers to maintain peak performance and proactively manage capacity requirements.
- Install and manage the application deployment platforms that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non‑production needs.
- Install and maintain administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the Epic system.
- Understand performance metrics, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of integrated third‑party software and peripherals, including document management systems, voice recognition, scanning, and faxing.
- Manage logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration.
- Apply Epic and other software platform upgrades and updates to production and non‑production components.
- Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
- Collaborate with other colleagues and Epic to ensure proactive support.
- Write and maintain scripts to improve system management tasks.
- Participate in change control process for all planned application and technical activities.
- Maintain and test processes related to business continuity.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other healthcare technology‑related field preferred.
- Redhat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP, or Citrix CCA/CCIA/CCEE certification preferred.
- Experience with UNIX, Redhat Enterprise Linux or other Linux platforms is preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in information technology with expertise in Microsoft Windows server administration, including Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, or VMware ESX/ESXi/vSphere, VMware vCenter management suite, in medium to large organizations, is required.
