Job Description HVAC/ Project Manager

Location:East Weymouth, MA
Experience

Required:

5+ years of project management experience supervising installation crews
Education:Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (strongly preferred)

The HVAC/R Project Manager oversees the day-to-day execution and documentation of installation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role involves managing subcontractors, coordinating labor and materials, procuring equipment, and working closely with general contractors and other trades. The Project Manager also collaborates with the Install Manager to handle the financial planning, reporting, and analysis of each project.

The Project Manager is expected to meet or exceed all qualifications required for the Assistant Project Manager (APM) position, and this role encompasses all duties outlined in the APM job description, with added oversight responsibility for APMs.

Requirements Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (strongly preferred)

Licensing

  • Journeyman License (strongly preferred)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)

Certification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred)

Experience

  • 5+ years of project management experience supervising installation crews
  • HVAC Mechanical Contracting industry experience highly preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Procore
  • Familiarity with project management software and methodologies

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with complex interdependencies
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to scope, budget, and timeline
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review contracts for scope, pull permits, and provide insurance certificates
  • Calculate cost estimates, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage financial aspects including budget reviews with the Install Manager and Estimator
  • Review invoicing (AIA billing, progress billing, and project close-out)
  • Manage all RFIs, Change Orders, and contract document changes
Project Execution & Procurement
  • Manage procurement of rough materials, equipment, and spec compliance
  • Select appropriate construction methods and teams based on job requirements and budget
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans using industry best practices
  • Monitor progress, measure performance, and make adjustments as needed
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed all code and safety requirements
Field Coordination & Leadership
  • Coordinate workforce scheduling with the Install Manager, Foremen, and other trades
  • Explain technical information and scope of work to field personnel; assist with layouts
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Foremen to support their professional growth and project success
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, promptly responding to complaints or issues
Reporting & Communication
  • Provide consistent updates to stakeholders regarding strategy and progress
  • Track and analyze direct labor productivity from project start to finish
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training seminars
