Overview
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and services necessary to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely acquisition of quality materials at competitive pricing while maintaining strong supplier relationships. The Buyer works closely with internal teams including Planning, Engineering, Production, and Quality to support operational efficiency, on-time delivery, and cost objectives.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Review MRP reports and purchase requisitions to determine material requirements.
- Source and procure materials, components, and services in alignment with cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Place purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation and system updates.
- Negotiate pricing, place purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation and system updates.
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
- Expedite orders as needed to support production schedules and customer commitments.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
- Collaborate with Planning and Production to align purchasing activities with manufacturing needs.
- Work with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve supplier-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
- Support cost reduction initiatives and identify alternative sources when needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Assist in inventory management and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
- Provide updates to internal stakeholders regarding material status and risks.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and audits as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain processes.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of industrial components, electronics, or mechanical parts preferred.
Required to sit, stand, and occasionally move materials within the facility. Combination of manufacturing and office environment. Regular exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and odors.
Work Hours7:00 AM - 4:15 PM;
Monday - Thursday. 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM;
Friday.
$70,000 - $85,000 annually
