Job Summary

Dispense spectacles and other optical products to adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Advise and assist patients with lens and frame selection, ensure accurate orders, manage sales, and maintain best customer service practices.

Responsibilities
  • Verify order data entry and compare prescriptions with original doctor documents.
  • Complete proper filing procedures, including correct ABC system filing.
  • Deliver sales by providing excellent member service in person and over the phone.
  • Explain exam fee procedures and communicate honestly with customers.
  • Take measurements, select frames, read prescriptions on the lensometer, and notify customers of product readiness.
  • Advance orders in the system and handle all money‑related transactions accurately.
  • Provide education to patients on product benefits and recommend suitable options.
  • Engage with members during downtime at the Optical department.
  • Adhere to privacy and proprietary company policies, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
  • Support the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure accurate funds collection and payments at point of service.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
Qualifications
  • License to work as an optician in the State, kept current and active.
  • Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
  • High school diploma, college degree, or equivalent retail/optical experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Open shift availability required for full‑time positions.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
Environmental Conditions

Work involves frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional bending, reaching, lifting up to 20 pounds, and possible handling of heavier objects with assistance. Exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises, and cleaning agents may occur. Optical hand tools are used for adjustments and repairs.
