Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £15.83 - £20.36 p/h (£35,000 - £45,000 per annum)
Hours:
42.5 hours per week, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday
A leading specialist mechanical engineering company is recruiting a Foreman to join the business. The company undertakes repairs, servicing, or breakdowns both in the workshop and on site on a wide range of mechanical equipment, vehicles, plant and machinery.
Responsibilities- Assist in organising and overseeing the day to day running of the workshop
- Communicate with the Managers, Service Department and provide regular updates of ongoing workshop activities
- Ensure all parts are ready for the technicians
- Ensure all jobs are undertaken in a professional and correct manner
- Carry out quality control checks
- Act as the first point of escalation for any technical queries from team members
- Prevent and minimise careless use of equipment and materials
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order
- Adhere to and promote all housekeeping, tidying and Health and Safety regulations and policies applicable to the role
- Complete any other tasks as and when required
- Previous experience of working on mechanical vehicles, HGVs, mechanical equipment, plant, machinery, marine or hydraulics
- Relevant formal qualifications or training (Apprenticeship, City & Guilds / NVQ, HNC / HND in relevant engineering course) would be advantageous
- Ability to find solutions to fix equipment problems
- Positive and enthusiastic mindset with a real ‘can do’ attitude and strong teamwork ethic
- Level‑headed and calm regardless of the situation, demonstrating empathy, understanding and a professional persona
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong performance as a Mechanical Engineer and ability to act as a role model to the team
- Approachable and helpful
- Methodical and organised
- Ability to problem‑solve and remain resilient and determined
- Flexible approach to work
