Salary: £15.83 - £20.36 p/h (£35,000 - £45,000 per annum)

Hours:

42.5 hours per week, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday

A leading specialist mechanical engineering company is recruiting a Foreman to join the business. The company undertakes repairs, servicing, or breakdowns both in the workshop and on site on a wide range of mechanical equipment, vehicles, plant and machinery.

• Assist in organising and overseeing the day to day running of the workshop
• Communicate with the Managers, Service Department and provide regular updates of ongoing workshop activities
• Ensure all parts are ready for the technicians
• Ensure all jobs are undertaken in a professional and correct manner
• Carry out quality control checks
• Act as the first point of escalation for any technical queries from team members
• Prevent and minimise careless use of equipment and materials
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order
• Adhere to and promote all housekeeping, tidying and Health and Safety regulations and policies applicable to the role
• Complete any other tasks as and when required

• Previous experience of working on mechanical vehicles, HGVs, mechanical equipment, plant, machinery, marine or hydraulics
• Relevant formal qualifications or training (Apprenticeship, City & Guilds / NVQ, HNC / HND in relevant engineering course) would be advantageous
• Ability to find solutions to fix equipment problems
• Positive and enthusiastic mindset with a real ‘can do’ attitude and strong teamwork ethic
• Level‑headed and calm regardless of the situation, demonstrating empathy, understanding and a professional persona
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong performance as a Mechanical Engineer and ability to act as a role model to the team
• Approachable and helpful
• Methodical and organised
• Ability to problem‑solve and remain resilient and determined
• Flexible approach to work
