New Hyde Park Alternative Funds provides institutional operational infrastructure to hedge funds, managed accounts, commodity trading advisors, and institutional investors through the Galaxy Plus Platform.
Unlike a traditional fund administrator, we operate as an extension of our clients' investment operations. We provide institutional-quality accounting, portfolio operations, reporting, reconciliation, and operational oversight while continually improving our platform through technology and automation.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced accounting and operations professional who wants to help build a best-in-class alternative investment operating platform while growing into a senior finance leadership role.
This is not a traditional accounting position.

Role DescriptionThe ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting knowledge with an operational mindset.
You should understand both portfolio accounting and partnership accounting, possess meaningful experience with hedge funds and alternative investments, and enjoy solving complex operational problems through automation, technology, and continuous improvement.
You will work directly with senior leadership and have significant influence over how our accounting, reporting, and operational processes evolve as the Galaxy Plus Platform continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain books and records for hedge funds, managed accounts, and alternative investment vehicles.
- Oversee daily portfolio accounting and partnership accounting activities.
- Prepare and review NAV calculations, investor allocations, capital accounts, management fees, and incentive fees.
- Reconcile complex trading activity, including futures, options, swaps, foreign exchange, and other derivative instruments.
- Coordinate daily reconciliation of positions, cash, and P&L between brokers, FCMs, administrators, and internal systems.
- Prepare audit work papers and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and financial statement preparation.
- Build and improve accounting controls that reduce operational risk.
- Design and implement process improvements that eliminate manual work and improve scalability.
- Work with technology resources to automate workflows, improve data quality, and strengthen reporting.
- Utilize AI and modern technology tools to improve operational efficiency while maintaining strong internal controls.
- Help develop the operational infrastructure supporting the continued growth of the Galaxy Plus Platform.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting professionals as the organization grows.
- 7+ years of experience in hedge fund, alternative investment, or fund administration accounting.
- Strong understanding of both portfolio accounting and partnership accounting.
- Experience preparing or reviewing hedge fund NAVs.
- Experience with audit preparation and annual financial statement support.
- Strong understanding of complex investment products and trading activity.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Desire to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
- Futures and commodities accounting.
- Exchange-traded and OTC derivatives (swaps, options, futures, forwards).
- Broker and FCM reconciliations.
- Daily P&L and position reconciliation.
- Master-feeder and multi-entity fund structures.
- Investor allocations, high-water marks, incentive fee calculations, and equalization methodologies.
- Regulatory reporting experience.
- Experience working directly with hedge fund managers or institutional investors.
We believe technology should make accountants more effective—not replace them.
The ideal candidate enjoys improving systems and processes and has experience with some combination of:
- SQL
- Python or light scripting
- VBA
- Power Query
- Power BI
- Alteryx
- Workflow automation
- API integrations
- Data analytics and visualization
Programming expertise is not required. However, curiosity, problem‑solving ability, and a passion for improving operational processes are essential.
