Overview
GENERAL PURPOSE :
Responsible for the implementation of youth dance programs.

- Demonstrate and teach dance skills to students in a variety of levels and disciplines of dance including but not limited to ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and/or hip hop.
- Create and implement lesson plans appropriate to skill level and dance style.
- Prepare participants for end of session shows or recitals as needed including choreographing dances, choosing costumes, and music and be in attendance for performances.
- Present new ideas regarding dance programming.
- Responsible for taking attendance and managing classroom behavior.
- Must interact and communicate with participants and parents.
- Responsible for communication and scheduling of makeup classes.
- Maintain supplies and report any supply needs to recreation manager.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proactively support the District Mission Vision and Values.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Minimum 16 years old with at least 4 years’ experience in dance required. Bachelor’s degree in dance or related field preferred. Knowledge of objectives and ideals of dance elements desired. Must have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Essential Certifications, Licenses, Etc.Must have and maintain: CPR/AED certified or obtain within 90 days of employment. Be a “Mandated Reporter” for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
Physical DemandsMust be able to: frequently move about and position ones’ self as in dance instruction.
Environmental DemandsMust be able to: work in an indoor environment with moderate to bright or low level lighting and moderate to loud noise.
HoursVary depending on availability of candidate.
Salary16.00 - 20.00 DOQ
