Job Summary/Basic Function:

Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a part-time instructor of Mathematics for the Fall 2026 academic semester to teach the following course:

MATH 101 - Calculus I (catalog description*)
Meeting days/time:
Mon-Wed-Fri, 10:30 AM - 11:20 AM

Responsibilities of the instructor include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that encourages student-faculty interactions.
  • Creating a syllabus (with assistance, if desired) to be provided to students and posted on the course's Canvas site.
  • Grading assignments within appropriate time frames and posting grades on Canvas.
  • Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.

The catalog descriptions are intended to provide applicants with a general sense of the intellectual scope of each course. Instructors will have access to previous syllabi, but are also welcome and encouraged to make the course their own in ways that align with their prior experience and departmental expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's in Mathematics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D in Mathematics or related field, experience in teaching Mathematics courses at the college level.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated salary for this position is $5,000 per course.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate.
