High School Counselor Intern
Community Unit School District 200 is seeking a High School Counselor Intern (unpaid) to provide assistance in the counseling office in the following areas: college, career, personal and social counseling advisement with students/parents individually, in small and large groups on all aspects of educational planning, and development/implementation of programs to meet needs of students and parents collection and reporting of data (NACAC website).
Working towards a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in School Counseling. Classroom experience preferred.
Provides school counseling services to help students address academic, personal/social, and career development needs. Collaboratively works as a member of problem-solving teams to address student needs; works closely with student's family, staff, administration and outside agencies as needed. Advises and assists students in the planning and preparation of post-secondary goals including school enrollment, course selection, and the scheduling of classes in order to meet those goals.
Participates in, coordinates, or conducts activities which contribute to the counseling program and effective operation of the school including crisis intervention, responsive services and system support. Pursues professional growth. Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisors.
