We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Laborer for DuPage County's Division of Transportation. This position supports the Highway Maintenance Department.
AssignmentThe IUOE - LOCAL 150 DIVISION OF TRANSPORTATION BARGAINING UNIT.
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements of the United States Department of Transportation - Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

Employees in this role receive 1 hour per day of on-call pay for November 1 through March 31 (on-call pay will only apply once a CDL is obtained).

Responsibilities- Roadway activities such as mowing, brush chipping, shoveling, raking, sweeping and traffic control
- Operate pickup truck, forklift, bobcat, and other roadway equipment
- Operate a tandem axle snowplow
- Shop activities such as cleaning, sweeping, and performing basic maintenance tasks (e.g. replacing light bulbs, sharpening lawn mower blades, empty shop trash, greasing equipment, etc.)
- Track and update inventory, receive deliveries, retrieve parts, restock supplies
- Pick up and drop off vehicles, equipment, and parts
- Assist fleet mechanics and equipment operators with their daily job tasks
- Other custodial, shop and roadway related tasks as assigned
- Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- A valid Illinois Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire (assistance provided by the Division of Transportation)
- Previous experience in minor engine repair and road maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
A post offer physical is required.

Employees in this class are required to be on call for emergency situations and seasonal snow removal, which means being capable of working in excess of forty (40) hours per week.
