Certified Nursing Assistant
Description: This position provides custodial and personal care services to clients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and in compliance with the Plan of Care designated by the RN.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required; current Nursing Assistant Certification with the Board of Nursing in good standing.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment within client’s residence, including light cleaning and straightening of bathrooms, sleeping and living areas, washing dishes or laundry.
- Perform all personal care activities detailed in the written Plan of Care, such as assisting with personal hygiene, ambulation and exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfer, and other duties as assigned.
- Provide nutritional support as needed.
- Report changes in client’s condition.
- Assist with use of devices for aid to daily living (wheelchair, walker, hoyer lift).
- Assist with prescribed range‑of‑motion exercises.
- Taught household routine and skills to well members of the family.
- Measure intake and output of fluids.
- Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration, or blood pressure.
- Keep records of personal health care activities.
- Observe appearance and gross behavioral changes in the client and report to the RN.
- Assist client with self‑administration of medication (e.g., taking medication from stored container, reading label, opening container, removing prescribed amount, placing dosage in client’s hand or another container, assisting with lifting to mouth, returning container to storage).
- Provide additional assistance with medication self‑administration as needed, such as preparing juice, water, cups, or spoons; opening and closing medication containers; easing the client’s body during self‑administration; and keeping a record of assistance provided.
- Abide by the agency’s infection control policies and the CDC hand‑washing guidelines.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the agency’s policy manuals.
- Certificate of completion and evidence of formal Nursing Assistant training and certification per state law.
- One (1) year experience in the home or long‑term care setting is preferred.
- Good standing with the Board of Nursing.
Reports to:
Director of Nursing.
Dependent on assignment; shifts available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, based on availability. Hours are not guaranteed.
FLSA StatusNon‑exempt, hourly.
