Join our team at sg360 and take the first step toward a rewarding career!We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual to join our Prepress Department as a Platemaker. Our company is seeking a Platemaker for 2nd shift (2pm to 10pm). This individual is responsible for preparing, inspecting, and maintaining press‑ready plates, performing quality control checks against approved proofs, and supporting efficient press operations by ensuring all materials meet production and customer requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Follow job‑specific instructions to produce plates for press production. Review production schedules and press run lists to ensure manufacturing has all required materials for uninterrupted production and high customer satisfaction.
- Perform quality control (QC) copy checks against customer‑approved proofs to verify accuracy, including form and run numbers for press.
- QC imposed plotter proofs on the line‑up table to ensure proper setup and alignment with layout specifications.
- Communicate effectively with Customer Service, Prepress, and Press departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain plate processors, output devices, line‑up tables, stripping tables, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Compare printed sheets to customer proofs to confirm compliance with customer specifications, including size parameters, copy accuracy, and backup materials.
- Complete, maintain, and submit all required documentation and records in accordance with Quality Department standards.
- Accurately report time and production results; maintain punctual attendance and work overtime as required to meet customer and production demands.
- Continuously improve skills and knowledge of the graphic arts industry, suggest process improvements, and collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Follow established work procedures, comply with company policies, and adhere to all safety and security regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3‑5 years of experience in the printing industry.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of pressroom operations.
- Basic math skills may be required to perform job duties accurately.
- Ability to stand or walk for entire shift.
- May be exposed to controlled non‑toxic chemical mists or vapors.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
