Maintenance Technician I 1st Shift (WL)

Job Summary:

At Richelieu Foods we make Great Food from Great People. We are looking for a Maintenance Apprentice to provide support and solutions in our ever-changing food manufacturing environment.

• Assists Maintenance Technicians on repairs.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Makes necessary adjustments to functional parts of devices and control instruments, based on production requirements.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment based on schedule or immediate needs.
• Creates and enters work orders for necessary repairs. Allocate and documents hours worked on applicable work orders.
• Disassembles and assembles production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Install, move and relocate machinery/equipment according to drawings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating wrappers and packaging equipment.
• Some experience in maintenance or related fields can be beneficial, especially for those with some experience as maintenance technician.
• Basic knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sprockets, chains, and other moving parts in equipment.
• Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out-tag-out, and machine guarding.

• Knowledge using hand tools and power tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment functions.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and work orders using a tablet.
• Ability to follow directions.

Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts; hot/cold environments; wet and/or humid conditions; occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. Noise level is usually loud.

Physical demands include standing, talking or hearing, walking, using hands, reaching; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, crouching, crawling; and lifting up to 10–50 pounds regularly and more than 50 pounds occasionally.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
:
Five days per week with one weekend day, occasionally six days based on production demand.

Compensation:
The expected compensation for this role is between $28.00 and $30.00 per hour, plus eligible annual incentive plan bonus, shift differential pay, and overtime.
