Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager - SAGE based in any of our U.S. offices.
The Objective: As a Senior Business Development Manager for our Strategic Advisory & Government Enforcement (SAGE) business unit, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to practice leaders and partners, shaping go-to-market strategy, identifying whitespace opportunities, and translating market intelligence into actionable growth plans. You will work closely with partners to develop and execute business development initiatives that align with our firm and business unit OKRs and position the firm as the destination resource for regulatory, compliance, and enforcement advisory services.
What will I do? The Senior Business Development Manager will provide marketing and business development expertise for our Financial & Fintech Advisory team and other practice groups in the SAGE business unit, which cover International Trade, Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation, White Collar, Public Policy, and Technology Transactions. You will serve as a trusted advisor to SAGE partners and BD leaders to create actionable business plans, define metrics to track progress, and develop integrated storytelling that positions the firm as a recognized leader in SAGE's core practice areas.

Responsibilities- Market Positioning:
Partner with Communications & other Business Development teams to develop and execute multi-channel campaigns that solidify the firm's reputation as a go-to firm for regulatory and enforcement matters, build awareness of new and expanded capabilities and open doors to client conversations. - Pitch Development & Strategic Pursuits:
Lead the development of pitch strategies and differentiated value propositions in partnership with practice leaders, leveraging market and sector capabilities to win new business. - Content Strategy & Development:
Lead the drafting of marketing collateral, presentations, bespoke pitches and RFP responses; assist attorneys with content drafting, review and dissemination. - Client Engagement:
Collaborate with SAGE partners to design and deliver high-impact client engagement strategies that convey the practice's unique capabilities and deepen client relationships. - Market Intelligence:
Collaborate with Research and Business Intelligence teams to share market insights and uncover revenue opportunities. - Experience & Knowledge Management:
Ensure the collection and maintenance of attorney experience and client information in Orrick's experience database. - Events & Programming:
Drive the strategic vision for client-facing events, sponsor ships, and thought leadership programming that strengthens client engagement and generates pipeline, in collaboration with the Events team. - Cross-Practice Growth:
Champion the SAGE narrative internally to cultivate cross-selling opportunities and build awareness of the group's capabilities, including overseeing a library of key data points and metrics.
- Experience: 8+ years of marketing or business development experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders, including practice group leaders and partners; proven ability to coordinate the work of cross-function project teams and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute multi-year growth strategies in partnership with senior stakeholders; superb judgment and decision-making capabilities with a strategic mindset.
- Project Management: Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Conflict Resolution: Highly skilled in resolving conflicts and handling challenging interpersonal situations with diplomacy.
- Communication & Executive Presence: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently engage with firm, practice and department leadership.
- Problem Solving & Business Acumen: Outstanding ability to analyze complex work streams, translate market intelligence and competitive analysis into actionable business development plans, and measure ROI on strategic investments.

Skills:
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with legal marketing and research systems; proficiency with generative AI tools. - Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.
The expected salary range for this position is between:
- New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $147,000 - $220,000
