Assistant Professor-Health Information Technology

Mountwest Community & Technical College is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Health Information Technology position. There is one position available. This is a full-time, 10-month, term, benefits-eligible faculty position available beginning in the Fall 2026 academic term. The position is a hybrid position, with in‑office days required, and is subject to change as enrollment needs evolve.
Salary: $45,000–$50,000 per year based on education and experience. Non‑negotiable outside of this range. While overloads may be possible, they are not considered part of the compensation package.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include teaching a full load of courses (15 credit hours per semester) and program‑coordination duties, including preparation and compliance with the CAHIIM accrediting body. Responsibilities also include maintaining office hours, participating in curriculum development, assessment, clinical placement, advising, recruiting, and other assignments supporting division goals. The successful candidate will also be required to serve on college committees, participate in professional‑development activities, and other related duties as assigned.
Willingness to teach online, flex, hybrid, or any other modality is required.
The successful candidate must be certified as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator. A bachelor’s degree at a minimum is required. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential. Teaching experience desirable, preferably at the community‑college level and online. Candidates should possess an interest in technology in the classroom, experience/interest in active‑learning approaches to teaching, and familiarity with online courses.
Experience with online teaching is preferred. Finalists will be required to conduct a micro‑teaching demonstration as part of the interview process.
