Tennerton Elementary School – Third Grade ECCAT - Employment Term: 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8
- Salary:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Upshur County Salary Scale; commensurate with experience and education level - FLSA Status:
Non‑exempt
The Aide works with the teacher(s) in a variety of ways to assist in implementing instructional strategies to enhance skill building for students in the classroom; the aide works directly with children in small groups or on a one‑on‑one basis to establish effective relationships and engage students to develop the knowledge needed to be successful in the classroom.
Performance Responsibilities- Participate in all professional development sessions required to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
- Assist the teacher as needed with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials.
- Conduct learning activities with students per established procedures.
- Maintain regular attendance and comply with the Employee Code of Conduct.
- Maintain an environment that is safe for students and conducive to learning.
- Anticipate and effectively address unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of children.
- Assist with supervision and instruction of children: copying, cutting, coloring, etc., to construct materials and bulletin boards.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to reinforce skills that have been taught by the teacher.
- Assist in implementing lessons based on district and school objectives and to address students' learning needs.
- Attend in‑services and workshops as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations.
- Assist the teacher in supervision of children in the classroom and in various locations in the school, including, but not limited to, instructional areas, cafeteria, playground, and bus.
- Assist with bus duty, hall monitoring, lunchroom duty, playground duty and other duties assigned by the principal or principal's designee.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, students, staff, and the public consistent with the duties of this position.
- Demonstrate basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure consistent with the duties of this position.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations consistent with the duties of this position.
- Interface effectively with other departments, school personnel, maintenance staff, and business contacts outside of Upshur County Schools.
- Work with children and with adults.
- Work with individuals and groups of students to support academics.
- Demonstrate patience while working with children.
- Learn new skills; be flexible and willing to perform a variety of tasks.
- Work well with others, follow written and oral directions, and complete assignments given.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and staff members.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists consistent with the duties of this position.
- Interpret a variety of instructions whether furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form consistent with the duties of this position.
- Accurately perform assigned tasks.
- Perform duties in full compliance with county requirements and Board policies.
- Promote harmonious working relationships with staff and outside business representatives.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills consistent with the duties of this position.
- Demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills consistent with the duties of this position.
- Complete all certification requirements within timelines.
- Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the principal/transportation supervisor/immediate supervisor.
