Salary:
Commensurate with experience and education level, per WV Code 18A‑4‑2 and Upshur County Teacher Salary Schedule
Evaluation:
Performance evaluated by building principal / immediate supervisor, following WV State Code, Board Policy 5310, and UCBOE Policy 5010
Provide support for teachers in the implementation of evidence‑based literacy and/or numeracy practices and deliver instructional coaching, mentoring, modeling, and training to classroom teachers.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of K‑5 West Virginia College and Career Readiness Standards for ELA
- Maintain data collection and documentation of teacher support
- Follow duties set in consultation with WVDE
- Follow WVDE monitoring protocols for initiative implementation
- Facilitate meetings with teachers, principals, and Curriculum Director
- Provide instructional support to teachers
- Facilitate or participate in Professional Learning Communities
- Support teachers in implementing evidence‑based literacy practices
- Model and co‑teach high‑yield strategies
- Support collaborative planning with teachers
- Analyze instructional and student data with teachers
- Collaborate with principals to strengthen Tier I instruction
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs with constructive feedback
- Provide targeted professional development (grant‑based or school‑wide)
- Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction
- Meet professional responsibilities
- Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
- Participate in professional development related to the position
Valid teaching certificate and licensing for the specified specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A‑3‑2, and a criminal background check per WV Code §18‑5‑15c and/or §18A‑3‑10. Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A‑3‑2a.
- LETRS trained or currently enrolled at the time of application (for Literacy Coach position)
- Knowledge of K‑5 WVCCR Standards
- Master's degree preferred
- Instructional Coaching experience preferred
- PAX Partner
- Knowledge of MTSS framework
- Minimum of five (5) successful years of K‑5 teaching experience required
- Fully certified K‑6 Elementary Teacher at the time of application
- Experience facilitating student‑centered coaching cycles
- Experience with school‑level data collection and accountability for grant reporting
- Experience in supporting adult learners
- Ability to attend mandatory position trainings in Charleston
